When it comes to dating, there’s a communication hierarchy: phone calls are obviously the boldest, while a Facebook message is probably the safest. But what about Gchatting? And more importantly, should I use it to reach out to my ex-boyfriend
I must be the only person in my network of friends who hasn’t yet seen Inception . For the past few days, my Facebook and Twitter feeds have been flooded with updates about how amazingly fantastic the film was! I’m planning on catching the flick next weekend, but one of the film’s stars has been the subject of quite a few of my recent conversations.
I had today’s post all written and ready to go when I read the following question from a commenter and just had to address it. It’s a question that plagues ended relationships and their participants, extends the pain of breakups, and generally drives us all crazy: Is it still good to be friends with your ex on social sites like Facebook?
While it seemed like a news item from three decades ago (Cold War, anyone?), over the past few weeks the federal government has been busily busting up an alleged Russian spy ring . This got me thinking about other kinds of spying, specifically the surreptitious activity in my friends’ lives: Facebook accounts being checked, names and passwords being stolen, texts being intercepted and phone logs being read. Is spying on our significant ever OK
Every day there are new posts on Facebook regarding privacy, complaints of people stealing photos, stealing identities. You wonder why we continue to use Facebook. But it has become a daily institution for many. I personally use it to keep in touch with family that is far away, to share photos of my grand child, show photos of my travels, or ask my friends for advice or just RANT.
Unfortunately for many, their governance page is full of complaints from people who find it very difficult to find answers to their questions. Have you tried to find a support email for Facebook on the site? That’s right, there is no support email for Facebook. Many ask
Facebook admins where are you?
How will Facebook charge me?
Facebook no longer free?
These questions are asked every day. I will include more information in my next post

Help I am having problems with Facebook
I am reading this more and more every day. What was your problem on Facebook?
I deleted my profile but signed back in 3 months later and it was still there. How can they do this?
I contacted Facebook about my profile being disabled and still fighting with the, how long does this take?
I added a bunch of people from school and now I have to fill in a security code and they give me a warning about only adding people who are really my friends??
Privacy settings…should I change them? What is the big issue?
A family member has passed away, what happens to their Facebook account?
My friend posted some photos of me - we are no longer friends and I want her to get rid of them and she won’t what do I do now?
There are so many issues with Facebook right now but I will try to respond to as many as I can
Question 1. Facebook stores your information for several reasons, if you disable your account and had been guilty of “bullying” they would need your information in order to investigate. Or if you have made threats to any individual.
Question 2, there is no set date it could take weeks or even months (from the stories that I have had heard.
Question 3, this is for your protection as there are friend adder bots out there that are sending thousands of requests. With this added protection it is stopping these bots.
Question 4, I can NOT stress this enough. Read up about this http://www.allfacebook.com/2009/02/facebook-privacy/ Years from now when you apply for that teachers job, or any job for that matter your photos could come back and haunt you. Yes, all those drunken photos, parties, you being caught doing things that were…well you know what I mean. Any one of your friends can right click that photo of you and God knows where it will end up. This is important on Facebook, take off your birthdate, not only would a criminal have your photo, your birthdate, schools you have attended, places of employment, even your kids names (and some people put their birth dates). Tighten up your privacy now, you may trust your friends but remember when you accept friendship from them you are also giving their friends access to your photos and information if you do not change your settings.
Question 5, In their privacy policy, FB say:
Memorializing Accounts. If we are notified that a user is deceased, we may memorialize the user’s account. In such cases we restrict profile access to confirmed friends, and allow friends and family to write on the user’s Wall in remembrance. We may close an account if we receive a formal request from the user’s next of kin or other proper legal request to do so.
I know that as a mother who has lost her son, it is good to have a page to go to somewhat like visiting a gravesite where I can see old photos, friends and people who have left memorial messages. So this is up to the family, but I would be interested in your thoughts.
Question 6 - Unfortunately Facebook will only take notice if they are impersonating someone (especially someone famous), or you report nude or pornographic photos. Facebook has become so massive that it is nearly impossible for them to keep up with the requests to re instate profiles, remove photos, and respond to every email. They are in the advertising business, we are NOT their customers. If you fall out with a friend or family member it is probably best to remove them as a friend rather than see the photos all the time. Better still for all the young ones out there, if someone takes your photo with their cellphone it is guaranteed it will show up on Facebook so hide your face. I talked to our local police last weekend. They are sick and tired of the complaints about Facebook because there is nothing they can do unless there are threats made. It is she said, he said, friends falling out and want their photos taken down etc and the Police can not help in that situation.
Here is another one that people never think of..all those status updates of you going away on holiday, going to the store back in 15 mins, taking Greg to soccer could be read by the WRONG person. Or I am home alone this weekend people..let’s party. Giving details about your kids, their ages, photos..hmmm are you getting this?

How can Facebook brag about the numbers of users when children under the age of 13, Scammers with fake profiles and fake pages are allowed to be made there. Facebook depends on advertising revenue, and information is pulled from profiles such as age, marital status to the kinds of movies they watch. How accurate can Facebook stats be for advertisers when there are so many fake profiles. Something MUST be done about this!! The list above is only the tip of the Iceburg. If your account has been disabled by Facebook because they think you are fake you can appeal. If you make too many friends your account will be disabled by Facebook. What is your answer to this problem?
I feel bad for the Facebook group called Disabled Dating Service as they will have to close their fan page because of the ignorance of these people. If you have ever had to report a person to Facebook you will know what a tedious, time consuming process this.
Facebook are you listening???Hello??
Had your account disabled by Facebook, that is another problem..post your comments here
