What does Britain’s Got Talent, American Idol, and Canadian Idol have in common? They are talent shows right? Is that what you guessed? Well your wrong!! From the mouth of Simon Cowell, you will hear him say to contestants on American Idol that they are not marketable, they need to work on their stage presence, and their image. Then along comes Susan Boyle, who before she even sings is judged by the audience and the judges. You watch Simon’s reaction, the audience and Amanda’s face as well. Amanda admits later that she was cynical like many of the people in the audience. Then the about face from Simon who said he knew all along that she would be good…hmmm. Since then Susan Boyle has been an overnight sensation on Youtube and picked up by every media outlet worldwide. She has even been invited to Oprah’s show.

The World Voted and Susan Boyle is Ugly
I was sad to hear that she went out and got a makeover. Susan you were fine the way you were. Look at Barbra Streisand, do you know how many times people said to her she should get a nose job. What about Madonna, she still has that space between her teeth. And for Canadians, what about Rita McNeil, do you think she would have listened to the public who said she was too big, and that she would never be marketable. I call these people the armchair critics, the people who wish they were 50 lbs lighter or had a smaller nose, bigger boobs..the list goes on. Britains Got Talent is a talent show, it is not Miss U.K., you are not being judged by your looks, you are being judged on your voice. And I have to say, I am one of those people who was moved to tears. You have a gift Susan!! Do not let people take advantage of you, don’t change who you are. You have been accepted all these years for WHO you are..why change now? I do not think your Ugly, I saw a warm, caring women who spent many years looking after her elderly parents. A woman who lives in a small village with her cat…far away from the spotlight.
